Jose Mourinho aimed a foul-mouthed rant at Europa League final referee Anthony Taylor after Roma's loss to Sevilla on Wednesday night.

Taylor had been the busiest man on the field at the Puskas Arena as he dished out 14 yellow cards - including one to Roma manager Mourinho - during a bad-tempered game.

The match ended 1-1 after extra time and therefore went all the way to a penalty shootout.

Roger Ibanez and Gianluca Mancini, whose own goal had earlier equalized for Sevilla following Paulo Dybala's 35th-minute opener, both failed to convert penalties for Roma.

Sevilla right-back Gonzalo Montiel then saw his penalty saved by Rui Patricio, only for a VAR review to result in a retake after the Roma keeper was adjudged to have strayed too far off his line.

Montiel scored from his second attempt to seal a 4-1 victory in the shootout and hand Mourinho his first ever defeat in a European final.

Mourinho was not in a good mood following the game.

After throwing his silver medal into the crowd, the Roma boss verbally abused Taylor in the parking lot.

It is unclear precisely what Mourinho was angry about but the 60-year-old told Taylor to "f*** off* and called him a *f***ing disgrace".
