Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal set two new records as Spain thrashed Georgia 7-1 in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Friday.

Yamal, aged 16 years and 57 days, became Spain's youngest ever player at senior level when he entered the action as a substitute in the 44th minute.

The winger then became his country's youngest scorer of all time by firing in the final goal of the night 20 minutes from the end.

Yamal is now the youngest player to score for any European national team since 1906.

Spain captain Alvaro Morata had earlier netted his first ever international hat-trick.

Dani Olmo and Nico Williams also found the net in Tbilisi and Solomon Kvirkvelia scored an own goal.

Giorgi Chakvetadze bagged a consolation goal for Georgia.

Spain now have six points from their first three qualifiers.

Highlights: Georgia 1-7 Spain

Who Is Lamine Yamal?

Yamal was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, less than 4 km from Barcelona's Camp Nou home.

He came up through the youth ranks at Barcelona's famous academy, La Masia.

Yamal first started training with Barcelona's first team in September last year after manager Xavi Hernandez identified him as a player with star potential.

He made his Barcelona debut in April at the age of 15 years and 290 days, making him the youngest first-team player in the club's history, as well as the fifth-youngest player ever to feature in La Liga.

Yamal was eligible for Morocco and Equatorial Guinea based on his parentage but opted to play for Spain at senior international level, having also represented La Roja in the Under 15, U16, U17 and U19 age groups.

Yamal is left-footed but prefers to play on the right when deployed as a winger. He can also play as a central striker or as a no.10.
