Inter Miami lost for the first time in 13 games on Saturday night.

Despite taking the lead courtesy of a stunning Leonardo Campana strike, the Herons eventually fell to a 5-2 defeat away at Atlanta United.

Campana opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a brilliant three-touch finish.

It came moments after fellow Ecuadoran Dixon Arroyo had rattled the crossbar from long range.

Campana had his arms in the air ready to celebrate a goal for Arroyo before displaying sharp reactions to collect and dispatch the rebound.

His first touch was with his chest. Without letting the ball touch the floor, Campana then coolly chipped it over the head of defender Miles Robinson before nailing a powerful volley into the roof of the net.

Campana later scored again by converting a penalty kick but strikes from Tristan Muyumba, Brooks Lennon, Georgios Giakoumakis and Tyler Wolff, plus an own goal by Kamal Miller, saw Atlanta win comfortably.

This was Miami's first defeat since Lionel Messi made his debut for the club in July.

Messi did not play on Saturday due to "muscular fatigue", according to Miami boss Gerardo Martino.
