Liverpool 7-0 Manchester United

Manchester United traveled to Anfield full of hope and expectation.

The Red Devils were unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions, while Liverpool had already lost five times in 2023.

But it is said that form often goes out of the window in big games like this.

That was certainly the case on Sunday as Liverpool won SEVEN-nil to record the biggest margin of victory this fixture has ever seen.

It was also United's heaviest defeat against any opponent since 1931.

Cody Gakpo scored the first goal after latching onto a neat pass from Andy Robertson.

Darwin Nunez made it 2-0 right at the start of the second half when he headed home from a fierce Harvey Elliott cross.

Gakpo then netted his second of the game moments later via a neat chipped finish from a narrow angle.

Mo Salah thundered in Liverpool's fourth with a rare right-footed strike before Nunez added another headed goal.

Salah beat David de Gea again in the 83rd minute to break Liverpool's club record for most goals scored in the Premier League.

With the game well and truly won, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made all five of his available substitutes.

Roberto Firmino, who announced earlier this week that he will be leaving Anfield in the summer, came on to score no.7.
