Luka Modric Golazo Helps Real Madrid Beat Sevilla
Luka Modric came off the bench to score a superb winning goal as Real Madrid beat Sevilla 1-0 at the Bernabeu on Sunday night.
The 38-year-old produced a brilliant two-touch finish in the 81st minute, shortly after coming on as a substitute for Nacho Fernandez.
Modric's first touch controlled the ball out of the air, while also subtly moving it away from Sevilla midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
His second touch was a wicked shot from 21 yards that kissed the post on its way into the net.
The goal was reviewed for a possible offside against Antonio Rudiger in the build-up but it was ruled that the Madrid defender had not interfered with play.
Another VAR review had earlier denied Lucas Vazquez his second goal of the season.
Vazquez found the net in the 10th minute following a fine assist from Vinicius Junior but the goal was disallowed due to an earlier foul by Nacho on Youssef En-Nesyri.
Sunday's win saw Madrid maintain their eight-point lead over Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
