A fan disrupted Monday's Premier League game between Manchester United and Wolves by running onto the pitch.

The one-man pitch invasion occurred in the fourth minute of second-half added time while Wolves were pressing forward in search of an equalizer.

With Wolves in possession in their attacking third, referee Simon Hooper blew his whistle to halt the match.

After sprinting for more than 50 yards, the pitch invader was caught by two members of security staff in the center circle.

Once the game restarted, United - who had earlier taken the lead courtesy of a 76th-minute goal from Raphael Varane - held on for a 1-0 win.

United's victory was far from convincing though. So much so that many fans on Twitter suggested that the pitch invader should have been given the Man of the Match award.

One United supporter wrote: "The man of the match is that pitch invader. His action reduced the pressure."

A differed fan tweeted: "Pitch invader was man of the match for me. We were about to concede. Give that man a lifetime season ticket for free."

Another joked: "Pitch invader my MOTM. Came in clutch at a crucial moment, put everything on the line for the badge".
