Wolverhampton Wanderers record-signing Matheus Nunes scored his first goal for the club on Saturday with a stunning strike in a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

The Brazil-born Portugal midfielder joined Wolves in a £42.2 million move from Sporting Lisbon in August.

Nunes was unable to score in his first 32 appearances for Wolves but he broke his duck in style during Frank Lampard's first game as interim Chelsea manager.

His goal arrived 31 minutes into the contest when he unleashed a rocket of a shot past keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from a narrow angle after a headed clearance from Kalidou Koulibaly had fallen into his path.

Chelsea were far from impressive in their first outing since Lampard's return.

The Blues dominated possession with 62% but only recorded one shot on target, while Wolves forced Kepa into three saves as well as beating him once.

Saturday's win saw Wolves climb to 12th in the EPL table, eight points behind Chelsea in 11th.
