Liverpool star Mo Salah did not look happy as he left the field in the 77th minute of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

Salah appeared to be angry as he stormed off before being replaced by Harvey Elliott.

Chelsea fans took delight in Salah's show of frustration. Home supporters cheered sarcastically as the Egyptian grumpily tore off a bandage he had been wearing on his right wrist.

Salah shook hands with Elliott - as well as Ben Doak, who was coming on to replace Luis Diaz - but he did not even look at manager Jurgen Klopp.

Salah - who scored two goals in 19 games for Chelsea between 2013 and 2015 - had been excellent in the first half on Sunday.

After assisting Diaz for Liverpool's opening goal at Stamford Bridge, Salah then put the ball in the net himself in the 29th minute but was denied by a VAR review that found he had been marginally offside.

Chelsea equalized courtesy of a debut strike from Axel Disasi on 37 minutes before another VAR check denied Ben Chilwell a goal.

Liverpool had been the better side early in the game but Chelsea improved as the contest went on.

This was the first time in seven years that Salah had not scored in Liverpool's opening game of an EPL season.

Klopp was asked about Salah's reaction after the game and the German told reporters: "I can understand because if Mo scored it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game but I didn't think about that.

"We needed stability and we needed fresh legs. It was super intense for everybody. That's all I can say about it. His reaction was absolutely okay.

"When I sub a player and he is jumping into my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised so that's absolutely fine."
