Approximately one thousand Napoli supporters stormed the field at Udinese's Dacia Arena on Thursday night to celebrate a famous victory.

Napoli had not won the match but a 1-1 draw was enough to confirm their coronation as champions of Italy for the first time since 1990.

Udinese took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of Sandi Lovric before Victor Osimhen hit back to earn Napoli a title-winning point in the second half.

Within seconds of the final whistle being blown, the pitch was filled with away supporters.

Some were seen ripping up pieces of turf to take away as Scudetto souvenirs.

Over 500 miles away, Napoli supporters who had been unable to get to Udinese filled the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium to watch Thursday's game on giants screens.

This was the first Scudetto that Napoli had won without Maradona in their team. The club's only previous title wins were in 1987 and 1990.

Napoli's third title triumph moved them up to joint-eighth on the list of teams who have won Italy's top division more than once.

They now have more Scudettos than Lazio and Fiorentina.

Roma are also three-time champions, while only Pro Vercelli (7), Bologna (7), Torino (7), Genoa (9), AC Milan (19), Inter Milan (19) and Juventus (36) have won more titles than Napoli.
