Phil Foden scored three goals as Manchester City came from behind to win 3-1 at Brentford in the Premier League on Monday night.

Foden found the net in first-half added time and then again in the 53rd and 70th minutes to record the second hat-trick of his EPL career - his first came in a 6-3 victory over Manchester United in October 2022.

Neal Maupay had earlier given Brentford the lead against the run of play in the 21st minute after racing onto a long kick forward by keeper Mark Flekken, who ended the game having made 12 saves.

Foden's first goal of the night was a sharp two-touch finish inside the penalty area following a poor header by defender Ethan Pinnock.

His second came when he got on the end of a fine Kevin De Bruyne cross.

Foden's hat-trick goal was assisted by Erling Haaland, who was making his first start for City since December 6.

Monday's win took Pep Guardiola's side to within two points of league leaders Liverpool.

City have played one game fewer than the Reds.
