Portugal scored five first-half goals to thrash Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-0 on Monday night.

The 2016 European champions had already qualified for Euro 2024 following a 3-2 win over Slovakia last week.

But Roberto Martinez's side had no intention of taking it easy in Zenica.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals in the first 22 minutes.

His first came from the penalty spot before he doubled his team's lead with a cheeky lob following an assist by Joao Felix.

Ronaldo's second goal of the game was his 40th of 2023. The 38-year-old has now reached the 40-goal mark in 12 different years during his record-breaking career.

Bruno Fernandes made it 3-0 in the 25th minute with an emphatic finish after collecting a long-range through pass from Goncalo Inacio.

Fernandes then set up Joao Cancelo for Portugal's fourth, before Felix made it five with a clean shot using the outside of his right boot.

Ronaldo's hopes of recording a 64th career hat-trick ended in the 65th minute when he was substituted off.

Portugal have now won eight games out of eight in qualifying Group J, scoring 32 goals and conceding just two.
