Richarlison Shines As Tottenham Break EPL Record For Latest Comeback Win
Tottenham produced a record-breaking turnaround to beat Sheffield United 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday.
A 73rd-minute Gustavo Hamer strike against the run of play had given the Blades a shock lead in London and the away side held that advantage until midway through the eighth minute of second-half added time.
Substitute Richarlison headed Spurs level from their 15th corner of the game.
The Brazilian - who had said earlier in the week that he was planning to "seek psychological help" after a tough period both on and off the field - then set up Dejan Kulusevski for Tottenham's winner with 99 minutes and 53 seconds on the clock.
This was officially the latest comeback win in Premier League history. The previous record had also belonged to Spurs following January 2022's 3-2 victory at Leicester City where they had been behind until the fifth minute of added time.
Kulusevski's strike on Saturday is also now the latest winning goal on record in EPL history.
But that record could well be broken again this season, which has seen a remarkable increase in the amount of added time played at the end of each half.
Indeed, there have already been 18 goals scored beyond the 90-minute mark in games during the first five weeks of the EPL season.
