Six players were sent off after River Plate scored a 93rd-minute winner to beat fierce rivals Boca Juniors 1-0 in Sunday'sĀ Superclasico.

Miguel Borja converted a late penalty kick to put his side ahead before running towards the corner flag to celebrate.

But his teammates did not celebrate with him.

That is because most of them had got caught up in a mass brawl elsewhere on the field, involving players, substitutes and coaches from both teams.

After the chaos had subsided, referee Dario Herrera issued red cards to three members of each side.

Agustin Palavecino was the first to go, followed by Elias Gomez, Ezequiel Centurion, Ezequiel Fernandez, Nicolas Valentini and Miguel Merentiel.

River's victory saw them move nine points clear at the top of theĀ Argentine Primera Division.

Boca are currently 13th after losing seven of their first 15 matches this season.
