Rodri scored his first ever UEFA Champions League goal with a stunning strike to fire Manchester City ahead against Bayern Munich in Tuesday's quarter-final first leg.

The Spanish midfielder, who was making his 45th appearance in the competition, shocked fans at the Etihad Stadium by beating Bayern keeper Yann Sommer with his weaker left foot from 23 yards in the 27th minute.

Rodri collected a short pass from Bernardo Silva, who was seemingly looking for a return ball. But Rodri had other ideas.

A neat turn saw Rodri evade Jamal Musiala before he curled an extraordinary effort around midfielder Joshua Kimmich and into the top corner of Sommer's goal.

City went on to win 3-0 on Tuesday, with Silva and Erling Haaland joining Rodri on the scoresheet in the second half.

The second leg will take place in Munich next Wednesday (April 19).
