Footage has emerged of Ruben Dias denying a pitch invader a meeting with Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

The incident occurred in Reykjavik earlier this week when Ronaldo was celebrating with his Portugal teammates after scoring in a 1-0 win over Iceland. 

A male spectator entered the field and ran towards the players, quickening his speed after spotting Ronaldo.

But his path to the most prolific goalscorer in soccer history was blocked by Dias.

The Manchester City defender grabbed the fan and held onto his coat until a member of stadium security arrived to remove him from the playing area.

Ronaldo made his 200th international appearance during the game, becoming the first man ever to reach that milestone.

His goal was his 123rd for Portugal.
