Seamus Coleman Scores From Outrageous Angle As Everton Beat Relegation Rivals Leeds
Everton beat relegation rivals Leeds United 1-0 on Saturday after right-back Seamus Coleman scored from an outrageous angle.
The 34-year-old chased an Alex Iwobi through-pass until he collected the ball in the right corner of the 18-yard box near the byline.
None of Coleman's Everton teammates had gone forward in support, meaning crossing was not a viable option.
So Coleman decided to try his luck by arrowing a first-time shot towards goal.
It took Leeds keeper Illan Meslier by complete surprise as the ball flashed past him inside his near post.
Coleman had not scored for Everton in over a year. His previous goal also came against Leeds - in a 3-0 win last February.
Saturday's victory saw Everton climb above Leeds to 16th in the Premier League table.
Leeds will end the weekend in 19th place, just one point above bottom club Southampton, who won 1-0 at Chelsea.
