Virgil Van Dijk And Dominik Szoboszlai Fire Liverpool To Victory At Sheffield United
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk scored his first Premier League goal of the season on Wednesday in a 2-0 win at Sheffield United.
The Dutch defender opened the scoring in the 37th minute at Bramall Lane when he met a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner kick with a sweet volley from nine yards.
That goal saw Alexander-Arnold record the 75th assist of his Reds career.
Liverpool were comfortably the better side but did not get a second goal until the 94th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai produced an emphatic finish following excellent work by Darwin Nunez.
Szoboszlai's strike came from Liverpool's 23rd attempt at goal.
Four of those attempts came courtesy of Mo Salah, who was surprisingly subbed off by Jurgen Klopp midway through the second half.
Wednesday's victory took Liverpool back to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the Blades - under new management after Chris Wilder returned to the club in place of Paul Heckingbottom earlier this week - remain bottom of the pile.
