Australia reached the semi-finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time thanks to a dramatic victory over France in Brisbane.

Saturday's game went all the way to a penalty shootout after ending 0-0 following 120 minutes of play.

France had been marginally the better side before penalties, recording 21 shots to Australia's 15.

But Australia were superior when it came to spot-kicks.
