Erling Haaland Misses First Penalty Of Manchester City Career With Awful Effort Against Bayern Munich
Erling Haaland missed a penalty kick for the first time in nearly two years when he blasted a shot over the crossbar during the second leg of Manchester City's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.
City were leading 3-0 from last week's first leg and had the chance to go 4-0 up on aggregate after Dayot Upamecano was penalized for handball 35 minutes into Wednesday's game in Germany.
But Haaland failed to hit the target, much to the delight of the Bayern fans behind the goal.
Haaland had scored 18 penalties in a row prior to Wednesday's miss, which was the first spot-kick failure of his City career.
Haaland's penalty miss did not cost City.
Indeed, it did not deter Haaland either.
The Norwegian scored from open play 12 minutes into the second half to put City 1-0 up on the night.
Bayern later hit back via a Joshua Kimmich penalty kick but a 1-1 draw was enough to see City prevail 4-1 over two legs.
