The left boot of Lisandro Martinez twice made contact with the head of Patrick Bamford during Wednesday's 2-2 draw between Manchester United and Leeds.

With both players on the ground following a collision, United defender Martinez swung his heel into Bamford's chin before catching the Leeds striker with his studs just above the back of his neck.

A VAR review looked at the incident but found Martinez not guilty of violent conduct so the referee took no action.

But former Leeds forward Jermaine Beckford and ex-United striker Michael Owen both believed that Martinez had intended to kick Bamford.

Speaking live on SuperSport during the half-time interval, Beckford claimed that Martinez was a master of "dark arts" and that he had "definitely meant to leave something on" Bamford.

Owen agreed and said that Martinez knew "exactly what he was doing".
