West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan received a red card in bizarre circumstances during Friday's EFL Championship game against Southampton.

Corberan was sent off in the sixth minute after he kicked the ball while it was still on the field of play.

The incident occurred after Sekou Mara had played an attempted pass down the line towards Ryan Fraser.

Initially, it appeared as though the ball was rolling out of play but a lot of spin then saw it change direction.

The ball swerved significantly just beforeĀ Corberan flicked out his left foot to touch it.

Southampton manager Russell Martin immediately raised both of his arms to complain to the officials, while 40-year-oldĀ CorberanĀ appeared to apologize.

DespiteĀ Corberan's apology, referee Sam Allison swiftly brandished his red card, meaning the Baggies boss had to watch the rest of the game from the stands.

Southampton went on to win 2-0 thanks to goals from Fraser and David Brooks.
