Michigan Panthers Get Early Start to Roster Cuts, Waive Former Washington Commanders Safety

The Michigan Panthers have a clearer picture of their secondary after releasing safety Will Adams on Monday.

With the first round of roster cutdowns looming for the UFL, the Michigan Panthers got a head start with a move to their secondary. The Panthers waived safety Will Adams on Monday.

Adams was a second-round pick to the Panthers in the UFL Super Dispersal Draft in January after spending last year in the XFL with the Vegas Vipers, finishing the season with five tackles in five games. The D.C. Defenders briefly had him on their roster in the summer before he was drafted by Michigan. His NFL experience includes a stint with the Washington Commanders in 2022.

Adams's best season with Virginia State came in 2021, when he made 61 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two pass deflections and one interception. He was named as a First-Team All-CIAA team for his performance.

The Panthers still have a lot to figure out at safety, as they currently have eight players listed at that position on the roster. March 10 is the deadline for the first round of UFL roster cuts, requiring teams to go from 75 to 58 players.

Michigan has a Saturday afternoon showdown with the St. Louis Battlehawks in front of the Ford Field home crowd on March 30.
