San Antonio Brahmas Open Training Camp with Pass-Catching Lineman
Training camp is fully underway in Arlington, Texas for all eight UFL teams as rosters continue to get built. The San Antonio Brahmas signed Conner Davis, a former tight end and converted offensive lineman, on Monday.
In December, Davis signed a letter of intent with the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks as an offensive lineman when Wade Phillips was head coach. With coach Curtis Johnson and the Houston Gamblers of the USFL becoming the Roughnecks, everyone who was on XFL team was no longer on the roster.
Davis last played as a tight end in the USFL with the Michigan Panthers in 2022 where he caught three passes for 25 yards. He had two other stops in spring football with the St. Louis Battlehawks in 2020 and the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football in 2019. Davis had five catches for 38 yards with the Iron.
Davis also had NFL stops, first signing with the New York Jets after playing for the Battlehawks in 2020. He would next sign with the Cleveland Browns during the 2021 offseason.
The transition to the offensive line will be an adjustment for Davis, but he has always been a stronger blocker than a pass catcher so it shouldn’t be too hard. His athleticism already gives him an advantage over the other linemen on the Brahmas.
San Antonio opens the season at home on March 31 against the D.C. Defenders.
