XFL Punting Leader, Six More Players Sign with UFL Teams
With a little more than two weeks left before training camp, the UFL continues to get players locked in on contracts for the 2024 season. The latest wave of moves includes seven players being signed and added to the active rosters of four teams.
The signings:
- DB Duron Lowe (Arlington Renegades)
- LB Jordan Wright (Arlington Renegades)
- WR Josh Vann (Memphis Showboats)
- OL LaColby Tucker (Michigan Panthers)
- RB Anthony McFarland (San Antonio Brahmas)
- DT Jacob Sykes (San Antonio Brahmas)
- P Brad Wing (San Antonio Brahmas)
The Brahmas got to work picking up some impactful players for 2024, including the return of Wing. He led the XFL in average yards per punt at 47.9 last season. Other additions include McFarland, who played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and totaled 146 rushing yards and 87 receiving yards. Sykes joins San Antonio after spending training camp with the Seattle Seahawks.
Tucker was in training camp with the Atlanta Falcons, but was cut before the start of the season. He got his shot after catching the eyes of Falcons scouts at the XFL Combine last summer.
Vann is coming off a stint in training camp with the Carolina Panthers in 2023. He played his college career at South Carolina, finishing with 1,352 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 56 games.
Wright was selected by the Renegades in the XFL Rookie Draft last summer. He attended Kentucky and had 168 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 15 pass deflections, five fumble recoveries and two interceptions in 54 games. Lowe played with three different NFL teams in the last two years. He also had a strong 2022 senior season at Liberty, producing 31 tackles and two interceptions in 13 games.
These signings got the UFL to 201 players on UFL contracts. Training camp starts Feb. 23.
