Jake Peacock on ONE Championship Debut: ‘For Me, It’s A Dream’

Peacock makes his debut for ONE Championship tomorrow at Lumpinee Stadium

Jake Peacock makes his ONE Championship debut tomorrow at ONE Friday Fights, competing against Kohei Shinjo in a bantamweight Muay Thai match.

“It’s a massive opportunity,” said Peacock. “For me, it’s a dream, and I am going to make the most of it.”

The bout takes place at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. Part of an Asian primetime event, it will air at 10:00am ET on Watch.ONEFC.com. Born with one arm shorter than the other, Peacock is overjoyed to have earned this opportunity. Yet he is not content just to compete: he is arriving in ONE to win.

“I’m going to make a statement,” said Peacock. “I’m going to blow the roof off Lumpinee Stadium.”

Despite the physical disability, Peacock, 30, has thrived in martial arts. His devotion to the craft has paid dividends, and he delivered a successful showing in the Road to ONE: Canada tournament to earn a spot on ONE Championship’s main roster.

“People still tell me what I can’t do, but I never put limits on myself,” said Peacock. “It all changed for me at seven years old when I fell in love with martial arts.

“My first-ever coach, Steve Groom, was very influential on me. He set the trajectory I am currently on. I still owe a lot to him. He made me feel like I could accomplish anything.”

The bout against Shinjo marks the start of a six-fight contract. Peacock also promises to be one of ONE’s most captivating fighters.

“I want to use this platform to inspire,” said Peacock. “And I’m going to entertain, too.”
