Conor McGregor playing starring role in Road House
Conor McGregor’s next fight still isn't official. But his next role is close to hitting the big screen.
McGregor plays a critical role opposite lead star Jake Gyllenhaal in Road House, which starts streams globally on Prime Video beginning March 21.
This is a reimagining of the 1989 original cult classic starring Patrick Swayze. In the remake, Gyllenhaal plays an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, but soon learns that his new paradise is not what it seems.
In his first feature film, McGregor shines in his role as a co-star. He plays the antagonist, Knox, embedding his trademark flair, charisma, and violence into the film. An early look at McGregor’s acting chops is now available to view in the newly released Road House trailer:
While McGregor already announced that his bout against Michael Chandler will take place at the end of June during International Fight Week, there has yet to be an official announcement from the UFC. But he is expected to fight this year, and from the looks of it, there will also be more acting opportunities in his future.
Kayla Harrison making UFC debut in April
Kayla Harrison makes her UFC debut this April at UFC 300, fighting Holly Holm in a women’s bantamweight weight.
Making her first fight in the UFC against Holm is a significant test. If Harrison can withstand Holm’s boxing and secure a victory, there is every reason to think she will find herself right in the title mix.
Raquel Pennington won the women’s bantamweight title this past Saturday at UFC 297, defeating Mayra Bueno Silva by unanimous decision. The fight did not meet expectations, especially considering Bueno Silva was exhausted before the start of the fifth round.
Harrison has the chance to add to her legacy with a UFC championship. The two-time Olympic gold medalist and former face of PFL now begins a new challenge, with the UFC representing uncharted territory for her to conquer.
