Bray Wyatt’s Death Leaves Wrestling Heartbroken
Windham Rotunda, who was beloved in pro wrestling as Bray Wyatt, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of only 36.
The news was shared on social media by WWE’s Paul “Triple H” Levesque on Thursday.
Destined to be a main-event talent for decades, Wyatt was a distinctly unique talent. A third generation talent, he had size, agility, and an abundance of charisma. He possessed the gift of connecting with audiences, and he relished the chance to play a sinister character.
Wyatt’s original gimmick as leader of The Wyatt Family helped build his legend. Surrounded by the late Luke Harper (wo later starred in AEW as Brodie Lee) and Erick Rowan, the trio took WWE by storm.
There were changes to Wyatt’s presentation over the years, and he developed The Fiend and a more comical Firefly Funhouse character. Yet there was always depth and hidden meaning to his work, and there was never an instance where he was not overflowing with creativity.
While still under WWE contract, Wyatt had not wrestled since February.
His passing leaves family, peers, and a legion of fans all devastated.
