Jake Paul on His Brother Logan’s Opponent at WrestleMania
The build to WrestleMania is in full effect.
Last night’s WrestleMania Kickoff highlighted the intrigue over the show’s main event, which, right now, is Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes. Somehow, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Seth Rollins will also factor into the two-night card, possibly even in that match.
Their Kickoff show segment showed that WWE is still able to keep people guessing, which is a critical element in their storytelling. There were also interviews throughout the night with Bianca Belair, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Paul Heyman, as well as an on-stage segment heightening the tension between Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch. After a WrestleMania classic against Charlotte Flair a year ago, this will be another chance for Ripley to make magic with one of the brightest stars in the industry.
Another star expected to wrestle is Logan Paul. The reigning United States champion, Paul defeated Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble–but only by disqualification. It was an entertaining bout, one that paid homage to Rumble singles matches from decades past by using the Rumble platform to lead to a rematch at WrestleMania.
Jake Paul, the viral celebrity-turned-boxer, keeps a close watch on his brother Logan’s success in WWE. And Jake has an opponent in mind for Logan at WrestleMania.
“I don’t know who’s in the cards for him,” said Paul. “For me personally, I want him to wrestle Kevin Owens.”
Jake, who is the younger Paul brother, has an upcoming boxing match against Ryan Bourland on Saturday, March 2 in San Juan at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico. It airs live on DAZN, and after knocking out Andre August in December, it represents the next step in his odyssey toward becoming a champion in the sport.
A month after the bout against Bourland, Paul can watch his brother defend the U.S. title at WrestleMania. Wrestling Owens makes for quite a juxtaposition, pitting a man who devoted his life to pro wrestling against someone who used his celebrity (and incredible athleticism) to slide into the sport.
Considering the way their Rumble match ended, with Owens delivering a beatdown on Paul, WrestleMania offers a chance for redemption.
“If he wrestles Kevin Owens, that’s his chance to silence the haters,” said Paul. “Obviously, the last time they wrestled, he won by DQ. It’ll be good for him to go get his get-back.”
