Logan Paul used his boxing match to set up his wrestling return.

In the co-main event of the KSI-Tommy Fury boxing pay-per-view, Paul defeated Dillon Danis by disqualification. The fight extended into the sixth and final round, but this was a disappointing bout.

Paul was the aggressor and more effective fighter throughout the fight. He won the first five rounds, and Danis’ strategy of tiring out Paul failed to work. Danis, who had trouble landing any semblance of offense, then attempted an illegal guillotine in the sixth, getting himself disqualified.

This was far from a masterpiece. It was amateur boxing, and Dillon looked especially out of place. Paul does not have the boxing skill of younger brother Jake Paul, though he was more than capable of beating Danis.

The only moment of excitement came after the DQ, as Danis and Jake Paul, who was in his brother’s corner, briefly gave the illusion that they were going to brawl. But in a bout that failed to meet the hype, that also did not occur. There was simply no substance here, and that was not changed by a fleeting snippet of controlled chaos.

In his post-fight victory in the ring, Paul called out Rey Mysterio, a WWE Hall of Famer who is reigning United States champion. The two wrestled once before during a tag team match at WrestleMania 38, which was Paul’s pro wrestling debut.

It would make sense for Paul to return to WWE at their upcoming Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia next month. Since the iconic Mysterio does not need a belt, it is a perfect opportunity to put some gold around Paul’s waist.

And rest assured; that match will be significantly more entertaining than the one we just witnessed on pay-per-view.
