Sting on Wrestling The Young Bucks: ‘Whose Choice Was It? It Was Mine’
Sting wrestled the final match of his legendary career at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view, showing off his brilliance in the ring one final time.
Teaming with fellow AEW tag team champion Darby Allin against the Young Bucks, Sting emerged victorious in his farewell bout. Only weeks away from turning 65, he wrestled a spectacular style, including taking bumps through tables and a pane of glass.
An especially unforgettable moment occurred when Allin went off a ladder and through panes of glass onto steel chairs.
Remarkably, he later returned to the match, helping Sting attain victory when he forced Matt Jackson to tap out to the Scorpion Deathlock.
It was a perfect finish for Sting, who holds immense respect for the Bucks.
“First of all, I respect them for who they are,” said Sting, who first met the Bucks over a decade ago in TNA Wrestling. “Behind the scenes, Matt and Nick are a couple of great guys, and they’re great wrestlers.
“I’ve watched how they conduct themselves, and I don’t care what anybody says or rumors that might be out there, they are as top notch as can possibly be. I don’t see any flaws in these guys in the ring. Their ability to make everybody better, and not just themselves, is not something many do. They consider AEW as a whole and what’s best for their opponents. I have so much respect for these guys.”
Sting also revealed who made the decision to book the Bucks as his final opponents.
“Whose choice was it?” said Sting. “It was mine. Matt and Nick, they deserve everything good that’s coming at them. I didn’t want to do this last hurrah with anyone else.”
