Rhea Ripley Vacates WWE Women’s World Championship

Ripley confirmed the news on Raw

Rhea Ripley is vacating the WWE women’s world championship.

Due to a shoulder injury, which was first reported earlier in the day by Mike Johnson from PWInsider, Ripley announced on Raw that she is unable to defend the belt and forced to relinquish it. She confirmed the news in the opening segment of Raw, which means it marks the end of her record-setting run–at 380 days, she holds the longest title reign in the belt’s eight-year history–as champion.

Fortunately for WWE, the company possesses a world-class roster. There is no shortage of women who could take the title and have a meaningful run with the belt, especially Liv Morgan, who has already been credited in the storyline as the one injuring Ripley and taking her out of action.

Ripley is only nine days removed from a spectacular WrestleMania 40 performance with Becky Lynch. She also wrestled a phenomenal match as the headliner at Elimination Chamber in February, where she defeated Nia Jax in the main event.
