Fantasy Impact: Dalton Kincaid Taken By Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft
Dalton Kincaid was drafted by the Bills with the 25th selection in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The 6’4” tight end out of Utah is an immediate “move the chains” target and red-zone threat for Buffalo's offense.
Kincaid joins a talented squad that has the need for production from the tight end position after Dawson Knox had a sub-par year in 2022. Quarterback Josh Allen will love his new sure-handed, big bodied target who showed strong route running skills and fluid athleticism with the ball in his hands during his senior year competing in the Pac-12.
Dalton Kincaid Fantasy Football Ranking and Analysis
Fantasy Football Dynasty Rookie Ranking: Tight End No. 1
Fantasy Football Redraft Ranking: Tight End No. 14
Historically, rookie tight ends do not bode well in fantasy football. In fact, only three first-round tight ends since 2000 (Kyle Pitts, Evan Engram, and Jeremy Shockey) managed to finish in the Top 10 in fantasy points at the position during their rookie campaigns. That’s just three out of a possible 25 that were drafted in the first round. In other words, for every one Kyle Pitts, there are another eight first-round tight ends that wouldn’t qualify as a starter in fantasy football as a rookie. Can Kincaid become one of the outliers? Absolutely! Afterall the Bills have one of the best offenses in the league and have a superstar at quarterback in Josh Allen. But is it likely? That's going to be TBD based on his usage.
Bottom line: He'll be well worth a late round flier in all fantasy formats.
Dalton Kincaid pro comparison and college stats
A former high school basketball star, Kincaid played just one year of football before heading to college. After two years in the FCS, Utah offered him a scholarship in 2020 and two years later he was catching 70 passes for 890 yards and eight touchdowns while earning all-Pac-12 honors.
Given his route running, athleticism, and tremendous catching ability, Kincaid has drawn comparisons to the likes of Zach Ertz and Greg Dulcich.
