WATCH: Kyle Seager Fantasy Baseball Analysis
A consistent 20+ home run hitter since 2013, Seager battled through an early season hand injury in 2019 but finished with a strong year at the plate. The Mariners third baseman will likely hit in the middle of the Mariners’ batting order and could provide good value considering his current Average Draft Position has him coming off boards as the No. 260 player.
Sports Illustrated’s fantasy baseball analysts Shawn Childs and Ben Heisler discuss the sweet spot of when to pull the trigger on drafting Seager.

Corey Parson: Hey, what's up, it's Corey Parson, the fancy executive here with SI.com getting ready to talk a little fantasy baseball, particularly Kyle Seager. He got off to a slow start last season, that could be due to a hand injury. Lets see what he'll have in store this year. Joining me to do that is SI's fantasy and gaming analyst Ben Heisler and Shawn Childs. Shawn, what do you think about Sieger coming into the upcoming season?
Shawn Childs: He's probably a tremendous value, and when you're in the high stakes market, you're trying to fill out the back end of your roster, you're always looking for batters that are going to hit third, fourth in the batting order or even bat lead off. So he fits that profile. His batting average is trending backwards, so that's why his ADP is a lot lower than expected. But he's hit over 20 home runs eight years in a row. His average hit rate continues to climb. But his contact batting average, that really, really lowers his upside of what he can potentially hit in batting average. So he has to hit the ball a lot harder, put more balls in play. But because he hit so many fly balls, it kind of makes him easy out. So he's a guy that's going to be steady, he's had 400 RBI chances a few years in a row. The lineup in Seattle isn't as good as it's been in the past, so don't expect a ton RBIs, but a guy in a full season could probably be a 20/80 guy with a slight negative in batting average. And he's a guy that just can drive some power and you get him fairly discounted if you get beat at the third base position.
Corey Parson: Ben, if the majors does come back this season, what do you think about Seager? Are you drafting or passing?
Ben Heisler: I agree with Sean. I think there's a ton of value right now on Corey Seager, he's the 35th third baseman off the board with an average draft position of 260. This is a guy that set a career high in ISO a season ago, hit more home runs in nearly 200 less at bats than a season ago, had twenty three in 2019 compared to twenty two with two hundred plus more plate appearances. And Shawnn mentioned eight plus consecutive years of 20 home runs. And again, if you're talking about a guy that's hitting the cleanup spot with an opportunity to drive in runs, especially with a stronger second half, I think the value is exceptional for Kyle Seager right now. And I think he has an opportunity, like Shawn said, 20/80 season. Maybe if he gets that batting average up, it could be a really nice value, especially in a limited season.
