Lucas Herbert's Caddie Pelted in Head by Water Bottle at LIV Adelaide
Lucas Herbert shot a seven-under-par 65 on Saturday at LIV Adelaide, moving into a tie for 28th going into Sunday's final round.
So why are we talking about a run-of-the-mill under-par round in this week's LIV event? It's because of what happened as the round concluded. Herbert buried a birdie putt on his final hole of the day, the 12th hole, which pulled Ripper GC into a tie for third in team scoring. The 12th hole is a notable party hole at The Grange Golf Club, similar to the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale on the PGA Tour.
The Australian gallery erupted as Herbert celebrated, and a water bottle was hurled from the stands around the 12th green that hit Herbert's caddie, Nick Pugh, in the head.
Check out the full video below, around the 24-second mark:
Herbert told The Sydney Morning Herald that Pugh was O.K.
"I was worried about him to begin with, but he's good now," Herbert told the paper. "He's good, and he took it really well. He could have been a lot more upset with it, but he took it really well."
Here's to less injuries to caddies in Sunday's final round.
