The simple way to get started with golf fitness
Whether you’ve played golf all of your life or are just getting into the game, you’re always thinking of ways to improve your game. The relentless desire to improve is part of what makes the game of golf so addictive. It’s impossible to perfect, but that’s the futile pursuit that all golfers face—and it’s that same pursuit that keeps us coming back for a lifetime of enjoying the game.
And while all golfers seek consistency in their games, let’s be honest… there aren’t many players who would say no to adding a few yards off the tee as well. We all see the guys on the PGA TOUR crushing the ball 350 yards (or in some cases 423 yards) and wonder how we can ever hope to gain even just a few extra yards.
There are golf tips to gain distance everywhere. But it’s likely that your club pro or the videos you watch on YouTube are asking you to do things that your body physically just can’t do. You might have even given golf fitness a thought but felt too intimidated by it or didn’t know where to start.
If any of this sounds familiar, this article is for you. Reaping the benefits of golf fitness doesn’t require a massive commitment of time or money. You can see real benefits from just a few exercises one or two times a week.
BEGIN WITH MOBILITY
A great place to start is hip mobility. Nearly everyone has limited hip mobility as they age due to prolonged sitting and a sedentary lifestyle. Increasing hip mobility will improve range of motion and power in your swing.
You can make inroads with hip mobility with a few simple exercises and stretches done once or twice a week. Give the three exercises below a try this week and see if you feel a difference during your next round. If so, you’ll realize just how much golf fitness can affect your game and how easy it is to get started.
