The 300 Mini Driver is a much-improved version of TaylorMade's original that was introduced 20 years ago. The driver retails for $399.99. It is available in lofts of 11.5 and 13.5 degrees, and the stock version features a Mitsubishi MiDr Proto shaft and Golf Pride’s 47g Z-Grip.

The 300 Mini Driver features a titanium face and a 307cc clubhead that combines titanium, carbon and steel for a more concentrated mass lower in the head. Unlike the initial 300 Mini Driver introduced 20 years ago, this one has Twist Face technology — a "curvature designed to deliver a corrective face angle on off-center impacts, producing straight distance off the tee," according to TaylorMade.

The 54-gram steel sole plate has been redesigned since its predecessor and will produce higher launch and lower spin rate numbers. Also, the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket behind the face has a two-fold purpose -- increase ball speed and improve mis-hits off the lower face. The 300 Mini Driver is available with a loft of either 11.5 or 13.5 degrees, and can be adjusted up to 2 degrees either positively or negatively.

TaylorMade claims the club will improve fairway shots and that is hard to argue, based on appearance. The head is sleek looking, no doubt, and the various design angles and curves induce a certain confidence that the club will do as intended.
