Jon Rahm endured a rough first round at the PGA Championship on Thursday, and his frustrations boiled over after a disappointing shot on the 16th hole.

Rahm's second shot was evidently not what he'd been hoping for, as after watching it drift away from the pin, the 29-year-old proceeded to aggressively tomahawk his club a few yards in front of him.

Rahm couldn't find his game on the front nine, managing just one birdie and four bogeys. The back nine was a bit friendlier to him, though he appeared to still be wearing the frustrations of his sluggish start, evidenced by his brief outburst of rage on the 16th.

Across seven appearances at the PGA Championship, Rahm has yet to place better than fourth, and his slow start during Thursday's opening round won't help him outdo his past performances.

Rahm finished the first round with a one-under-par 70, tied for 45th place heading into Friday.
