Golf's major season is over but on the PGA Tour there is still plenty to play for—and time is running out.

This week's 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities is the penultimate event of the regular season, and two leaderboards will be watched all week. Along with the tournament leaderboard the FedEx Cup points list will be heavily monitored, as players are striving to get inside the top 70.

Only the top 70 qualify for the newly formatted playoffs, which boast a $75 million bonus pool and $18 million to the winner.

Justin Thomas entered the field at the last minute, as he's 76th in the standings after a missed cut at the British Open and needing to rally. He's one of five players in the top 30 of the Official Golf Ranking in the field; just two in the top 30 of the SI World Golf Rankings are in (defending champion Tony Finau and Sungjae Im).

This is the fifth edition of the event in Blaine, Minn., and look for plenty of birdies. The winning scores have been between 15 and 21 under par.
