Did you know that three of the next eight events on the PGA Tour are national opens?

You're surely aware of June's U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, and likely the RBC Canadian Open the week before that. But this week is the Mexico Open at Vidanta, the national open of our friends south of the border.

World No. 1 (and SI World Golf Ranking No. 1) Jon Rahm returns to defend his title of a year ago, and truth be told the field isn't exactly stacked after him. Tony Finau, 16th in the world (17th SIWGR) is back after finishing runner-up a year ago, then you have to scan all the way down to No. 50 in Alex Noren for the next highest ranked player in the field.

This event comes immediately before the Wells Fargo Championship, a designated event with a $20 million purse, and its $7.7 million purse is one of the smallest of the season.

The Vidanta Vallarta course was designed by Greg Norman and is a 7,456-yard par 71.
