The PGA Tour has been on a roll over the last month with its designated events featuring big purses and major championship-caliber champions.

But at TPC Sawgrass, everything is kicked up a notch.

The Players Championship is the PGA Tour's flagship event, with 144 of its best players competing for a record $25 million purse. The winner will take home $4.5 million.

Despite some speculation that he'd tee it up, Tiger Woods is sitting this Players out. But every other top star in the game will be in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., specifically 43 of the top 50 in the OWGR (42 of top 50 SIWGR), or all that are eligible for the event.

Not appearing are Cam Smith, Anirban Lahiri and Paul Casey—the top three of a year ago. All are gone to LIV Golf, which means the 2023 Players will have a new champion. Other previous champions competing include Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and Jason Day.
