2023 U.S. Open Final Payouts, Winnings, Prize Money: Wyndham Clark Banks $3.6 Million

A record-breaking $20 million purse was up for grabs at L.A. Country Club. Wyndham Clark won the largest slice of it.

Last week the U.S. Open offered its largest purse ever, $20 million in total prize money. Wyndham Clark won his first career major, and collected $3.6 million for the victory.

Rory McIlroy suffered another major-championship runner-up, and banked $2.16 million for the effort. Scottie Scheffler took $1.41 million for third place.

Just seven years ago, in 2016, the U.S. Open purse was half of this year's, at $10 million. Golf's gold rush continues.

Tommy Fleetwood shot a 63 on Sunday -- the second time he's shot 63 on Sunday at a U.S. Open -- for a backdoor T6 finish.

The U.S. Open continued golf's trend of boosted payouts. The PGA Tour's designated events this year offer $20 million purses. The Masters and PGA Championships offered record prize money this year, although this week's U.S. Open prize was the largest major-championship purse so far.
