2023 WM Phoenix Open Full Field: 18 of World's Top 20 Make for a Super Week at TPC Scottsdale

The first full-field "designated event" on the PGA Tour features 18 of the top 20 in the world playing before the season's biggest and rowdiest crowds.

The Phoenix/Scottsdale area has hosted the Super Bowl and the WM Phoenix Open in the same week before, but this time the golf tournament is worthy of "Super" status too.

The WM Phoenix Open, annually the PGA Tour's highest-attended and rowdiest event, will have its best field ever as it is one of the Tour's "designated events" for 2023.

That means virtually all the Tour's top players will compete for a $20 million purse, and this week that means 18 of the world's top 20. The only two not competing are No. 4 Cameron Smith, who left last year for LIV Golf, and No. 8 Will Zalatoris, who is taking the week off.

Scottie Scheffler, No. 2 in the world, is back to defend his title. A year ago he came to TPC Scottsdale without a win on Tour, and his playoff victory over Patrick Cantlay would eventually snowball into four wins in two-month span including the Masters.
