Last week's Sentry was the season opener for virtually all of the PGA Tour's best. The Sony Open is the opener for just about everyone else.

A field of 144 gathers this week at Waialae Country Club and many in the field finished between No. 50 and 125 in FedEx Cup points. Also in the field are Nos. 1-12 on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour points list; the top 30 earned their PGA Tour cards.

Gary Woodland is a welcome sight on the field list, returning to the PGA Tour after surgery to remove a brain tumor in September. Also returning is Will Zalatoris, making his first official PGA Tour start since last year's WGC-Dell Match Play (he also played in December at the Hero World Challenge).

Si Woo Kim putts on the 18th hole during the final round of the 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club.
