Adam Hadwin’s Wife Had the Perfect Reaction to Viral Tackle Incident at Canadian Open
One of the wildest weeks in golf history ended with a crash and bang on Sunday evening—literally. Canadian PGA Tour player Adam Hadwin was dramatically tackled by a security guard while attempting to celebrate his friend Nick Taylor’s victory at the RBC Canadian Open, and the mix-up sent golf’s social media circles into an absolute frenzy.
Video of the confused security guard’s quick move and Hadwin’s takedown had fans and media members firing off jokes left and right, while also expressing concern for the golfer’s well-being. The security guard in question did not hold back after all—he thought the 70th-ranked golfer in the world (No. 62 SIWGR) was just a crazed fan.
The best social media reaction of all, however, came from Hadwin’s wife, Jessica. Jessica Hadwin is an active member of the golf Twittersphere and she provided a rather clever string of commentary as the events unfolded.
Earlier in the broadcast, CBS cameras showed Hadwin, Corey Conners and Mike Weir anxiously watching Taylor, a fellow Canadian, as he faced Tommy Fleetwood in a sudden-death playoff. The scene naturally prompted Jessica to send out the following tweet:
Fast-forward about half an hour to when Taylor sunk a 72-foot putt to win on Canadian soil, prompting an epic celebration on the 18th green in front of a hometown crowd.
Hadwin’s downfall wasn’t immediately caught on TV, but Jim Nantz could be heard on the broadcast saying, “they just tackled Adam Hadwin, by the way, who was trying to approach his friend.”
Jessica again chimed in with a witty initial response:
But shortly thereafter, the video of the incident started to circulate, and Jessica’s tone immediately switched at the sight her husband’s violent takedown.
Luckily, Hadwin wasn’t injured among the confusion, which Jessica confirmed in another tweet: “Sorry to leave ya’ll hanging, had to get the toddler ready for bed. I’m thrilled to report that @ahadwingolf is still among the land of the living and in true Canadian form, apologized to the security guard for being tackled.”
Hadwin even made light of the viral moment himself on Sunday evening.
