The course record at TPC Twin Cities has been tied several times, but when Beau Hossler matched that figure Sunday by shooting 62, he did it in a particularly outrageous manner.

Hossler teed off in the final round of the 3M Open at 4 under par, with almost no chance of even sniffing Lee Hodges’s significant lead at 20 under. But being so far out of position didn’t stop Hossler from grinding to go low, as he went on to put together the round of the tournament.

The 28-year-old pro’s front nine score wasn’t anything special. He kicked off the day with a birdie, but followed with a bogey on the par-4 2nd. In his next six holes, he made one more birdie on the par-4 6th. But on No. 9, Hossler’s round suddenly got very interesting.

Starting on the 9th hole, Hossler carded eight birdies in a row—yes, eight

The PGA Tour record for longest birdie streak is nine, and Hossler was two feet from holing a 74-foot putt on the 17th to match that number.

If you can’t quite fathom the absurdity of Hossler’s birdie string, just take a look at all the circles on his scorecard.

Hossler’s eight birdies included putts made from 19 feet, four feet, 18 feet, 11 feet, 45 feet, two feet, four feet and three feet.

“It's weird,” Hossler said of the unbelievable stretch. “It's one of those days where you kind of just get caught up in playing each shot and I did that. Obviously just finished the round so I haven't really gone back to think about it yet.

“Just got the ball in play for the most part, got a look and then finally got some putts to go in. And a couple obviously pretty close there on like 14, 15 and 16 was a fairly short one, too. Just solid golf. I feel like I've been playing well, I just haven't really gotten much for it the last few days. Trying to keep my head down in ideal scoring conditions, so take advantage of that.”

Hossler finished the tournament at 13 under. He beat his third-round score of 72 by 10 shots.
