Golf World Reacts to Brooks Koepka Calling Out Jon Rahm After Day 1 of Ryder Cup

The golf world had a few things to say about Koepka’s bold comments.

Brooks Koepka appeared to be agitated with the behavior of Europe’s Jon Rahm at the Ryder Cup on Friday, and he didn’t hold back when expressing his frustrations in a post-round interview.

Koepka claimed Rahm was “act[ing] like a child” at the end of their fourball match when he and Scottie Scheffler went on a birdie run late in the round. Rahm holed a lengthy eagle putt on the 18th hole to secure a half-point for the European Team. Europe finished Friday’s opening sessions with a 6½–1½ lead over the Americans.

Here’s the full quote from the LIV golfer: “I mean, I think me and Scottie birdied, what did we say, 14, we birdied 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and then lost by two. So yeah. I mean, I want to hit a board and pout just like Jon Rahm did. But, you know, it is what it is. Act like a child. But we're adults. We move on.”

Speculation after the session suggested that the "board" was an imaginary backboard that Rahm's solidly hit putt struck on the back of the 18th hole.

“That adds a little heat to whatever sauce we’re putting on the pasta tonight,” Golf Channel's Rich Lerner said.

It was a clear call-out of the Spaniard’s frustration and the golf world immediately had a few things to say.
