Bryson DeChambeau ticked off several “firsts” on Sunday at LIV Golf Greenbrier. With an unthinkable 12-under 58, DeChambeau recorded the first sub-60 round on LIV Golf and also captured his first individual win on the breakaway tour.

But DeChambeau’s victory was also bittersweet: The 29-year-old won for the first time since his father passed in November 2022.

When asked about the milestone in his post-round interview, DeChambeau was immediately overcome with emotion.

“Did you think about him out there?” LIV’s Dom Boulet asked. “He’d be very proud of you.”

DeChambeau’s answer was as raw as it gets.

“Yeah he would. He was with me out there all day today. No doubt. It’s been almost a year, and it’s been a really difficult couple of years, but doing it this way and finishing out with a 58 or something like that. It’s all glory to God and glory to him upstairs," he said.

“I can’t thank my dad for all he taught me, my mom for all she taught me, my brother. Everybody. It was just amazing what I was able to do today and I’m super excited. Couldn’t have done it without all of them.”

DeChambeau also gave a heartfelt shout-out to his mom, who couldn’t be there to watch the West Virginia event.

“I love you, mom. You are the best person that I could have ever imagine parenting me and teaching me all the life lessons growing up, but I couldn’t imagine anyone else. I love you, mom.”
