Two-time DP World Tour winner Eddie Pepperell isn’t afraid to voice his opinion and his tweets after Sunday’s LIV Golf team championship were no exception.

Pepperell boasts 185,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter) and is perhaps one of the most active professional golfers on the app, known for his sarcastic but blunt takes. So after Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC captured the massive team prize in Miami, the Englishman couldn’t help but share his honest thoughts. Frequently a critic of LIV Golf’s team format and disruptive approach, Pepperell did not hold back, per usual.

“I tried, sincerely, I just tried to watch this and feel something genuine. Joy, inspiration, something,” Pepperell wrote in response to a video of DeChambeau’s celebration. “And I just cringed. It’s just all cringe, the whole show, the teams, the individuals. Hate to s--- on something but honestly, it’s just so far away from being compelling.”

The comment, which was written in response to a LIV Golf clip shared by Golf Digest, got hundreds of replies, many of which Pepperell chose to respond to, defending his original opinion and denying accusations of jealousy.

“As always, the classic ‘jealousy’ comments come out when criticising LIV,” he continued. “I’ve no reason to hate LIV or be jealous, if anything I’ve benefitted from it. I’m just observing like everyone else it’s obvious pitfalls. It had a chance to create something special and it hasn’t.”

Pepperell, who has struggled to find form in Europe this season, also took to X when the Official World Golf Ranking announced it would not be awarding points to LIV Golf events. Naturally, he took a crack at the Saudi-backed league and his own game.

“Tough day for the LIV golfers, knowing they will be unable to earn world ranking points,” Pepperell wrote. “Fear not though fellas, life goes on. I would know.”
