Tiger Woods’s Ex-Girlfriend Drops Lawsuit Against His Estate
Erica Herman, Tiger Woods’s former girlfriend of more than five years, has dismissed a lawsuit seeking $30 million in damages from the 15-time major champion’s estate. Herman’s dismissal was filed on June 29 in Martin County, Fla.
“The Plaintiff, Erica Herman, by and through her undersigned counsel, hereby dismisses without prejudice her Complaint, filed on October 26, 2022, pending resolution of the appeal in Herman v. Woods, Case No. 23-175CA, and determination of whether her claims are subject to compelled arbitration,” the document stated.
Herman, 39, filed the original complaint on Oct. 26, 2022, after she was forced out of her shared home with Woods in Florida after their relationship ended.
Herman alleged that there was an oral agreement in place that she could reside at Woods’s residence for five more years. Woods’s actions had violated that agreement, Herman claimed, prompting her to seek $30 million in damages.
The complaint will be officially dropped pending the resolution of another appeal of Herman’s, in which she sought to nullify a nondisclosure agreement with Woods.
Herman claimed that the NDA should be unenforceable under the Speak Out Act, which can reverse such agreements in cases involving sexual assault and/or sexual harassment.
In May, a judge called Herman’s claims “vague and threadbare” and subsequently ruled that Herman must abide by the NDA and conduct her lawsuits through private arbitration.
By dismissing her complaint "without prejudice," Herman could potentially refile in the future.
