Tiger Woods lives up to Rudy Tomjanovich's famous quote by finding his heart en route to returning to his winning ways

When Tiger Woods started playing golf again after his personal problems and back issues, all of my friends were convinced that he was “done,” never to compete meaningfully again (“Parting shots on a season well played,” Dec. 18).

I kept saying former Houston Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich’s famous line upon winning the 1995 NBA title, "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion.” After Woods' first few pitiful performances in tournaments, I was not so sure.

But Tiger, like a true champion, found his stroke and renewed his resolve. He has learned what a true champion needs to do: find his heart.
